Melamine Acoustic Foam

Melamine Foam, recognised under its trade name Basotect, is a low-density, open-cell polymer material, which offers specific benefits in certain applications, particularly where sound absorption, fire retardant qualities, heat and chemical resistance are required in a flexible, lightweight material.

Widely used

As such, melamine foams are now widely used in insulation and acoustic foam applications; although in more recent years the material has also been widely adopted in the cleaning sector for its ability to remove marks and stains without the need for cleaning agents.

Multiple qualities

As well as offering superior sound absorption and insulating qualities, Basotect melamine foam is class O rated in terms of its heat and flame retardant qualities, as well as chemical resistant.

These characteristics, combined with its high level of flexibility, low density and weight make it extremely suitable for a wide range of barrier and insulating applications in both industrial and domestic settings.

These include:
  • Ceiling tiles and wall panels
  • HVAC linings
  • Baffles in sound recording studios
  • Suspended sound absorbers
  • Seating applications (such as railway carriage seating as a result of its class O rating)
